162 Ghost Muller's inspiration for his style horses included the Civil War Theme. He used primarily Arabians with much devotion to details. Ghost, a stander, operates at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, OH. The very real looking hardware sets Muller's creation apart from other carvers. Muller $219.00

228 Rose Rose is a Stein & Goldstein style horse. One of the carvers' trademark was the deep relief flowers that they carved on their horses. Stein & Goldstein $161.00

241 Bugler Bugler last operated at Long Beach, CA. A Looff's style armored horse was a more elegant style, using coats of arms and elegant drapery, where his contemporaries used heavy looking metal. The legs on a Looff horse were slender, graceful and illustrated a great deal of motion. With the bugle hanging from the saddle, this horse is full-ahead-charge. Looff $161.00

208 Sea Horse The hippocampus, a rare seahorse of mythological origin, had forelegs and a fish tail. This surprisingly friendly creature operated at Watkins Regional Park in Largo, Maryland. Dentzel's collection of carousel horses was set apart from his contemporaries with delicate figures hanging from the trappings. Dentzel $161.00

285 Drapes This gray Jumper is draped in pink. Parker's Flying Horse Swing, of which he had four, traveled about the mid-west and west providing immense entertainment to thousands of communities. His horses were long and compact. Compact to accommodate the packing & moving that was required with a traveling carousel. Most of his horses were in action representing the western movement and action. C.W. Parker $161.00

265 Buckles Buckle's operated at Bushnell Park, Hartford, CT. Buckle's is a classic of the Stein & Goldstein trademark. A long body, huge buckles and deep relief flowers. They, like many of their contemporaries used fish scales, blankets and lots of fringe on their horses. Stein & Goldstein $219.00

232 Sphinx Philadelphia Toboggan Company carousel horses started out simple, but evolved into some of the most extravagantly designed horses ever. This horse last operated at Marriott Great America, Santa Clara, CA. With the two Sphinxes on the saddle blanket this horse illustrates the exquisite design of PTC. PTC $161.00

142 Sash Many of the famous carvers of the time supplied Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC) with horses, for $25 to $35 per horse. A sash type saddle blanket decorates this gray horse. Many of the features match those of Charles Carmel. Carmel used imaginative decorations, in addition to being able to capture the essence of an animal in the expression; proportions and flow of the mane, circa 1915. PTC $161.00

125 Mane Mane, circa 1917, an outstretched Parker jumper has the wild, wind blown mane, pompadour forelocks, and bobbed tail, draped with ribbons and bows. His horses were long and compact. Compact to accommodate the packing and moving that was required with a traveling carousel. Most of his horses were in action representing the western movement and action. C.W. Parker $161.00

156 Captain Dentzel's collection of carousel horses were set apart from his contemporaries with delicate figures hanging from the trappings. Captain is very graceful, which was Dentzel's style, and originally carved in 1921. Dentzel $161.00

139 Wolf Muller used primarily Arabians with a realistic devotion to details. Muller started with the Dentzel Company, left to start his own business, then returned to the Dentzel Company, when his company was not successful. Muller $161.00

158 Cherub A Cherub suspended beside this beautiful jumper is its guarding angel. Illions began his own company with his sons in 1909. This stylist jumper was one of his earliest horses with the new company, circa 1911. Illions $161.00

271 Eagle This Dentzel lead horse is believed to be one of a kind. Modeled after a Muller piece, this stander has a traditional American flag attached to the thoroughbred-style horse, circa 1914. Dentzel $161.00

256 Blue Ribbon Blue Ribbon, circa 1914, operated at Bushnell Park, Hartford, CT. Stein & Goldsteins' trademark was long bodies, huge buckles and deep relief flowers. Most distinctive was the Roman nose. The blue ribbon afixed to the bridle make this piece a sure winner. Stein & Goldstein $161.00

292 Arabian Salvatore Cernigliaro joined Dentzel in 1903 and soon became a master carver. He introduced a noble, aristocratic head to his carousel horses that came to be known as the "Arabian" horse. Cernigliaro $199.00

283 Beauty Rose This white Parker Jumper is decorated lavishly with roses. Parker traveled throughout the midwest and west providing immense entertainment to thousands of people. Most of his horses were in action representing the western movement and action. This original horse was carved in 1915. C. W. Parker $161.00

122 Charger Charger, circa 1916, an outstretched armoured Parker jumper is leaping into the heat of battle. Parker's horses were long and compact to accommodate the packing and moving that was required with a traveling carousel. C. W. Parker $161.00

127 Goldy Illions carved hundreds of horses for various companies. His earlier horses held proud poses, long thin heads and round muscular bodies. Goldy's mane and tail are golden. Goldy was originally carved in 1909. Illions $161.00

169 Tassels PTC's carousel horses started out simple, but evolved into some of the most extravagantly designed horses ever. Many of the famous carvers of the time supplied PTC with horses. Tassel's was carved in 1902. PTC $161.00

231 Mermaid A Mermaid suspended beside this beautiful stander is ready for a swim or a merry-go-round ride. This PTC horse is another example of the vast number of talented carvers that worked for PTC. PTC $161.00

245 Bow Another Parker jumper, made in 1912. One of many western action horses that traveled throughout the west with the Parker Flying Horse Swing. C. W. Parker $161.00

267 Tail This white Illion's Stander has a gold mane and a hair tail. Illions carved hundreds of horses for various companies. His earlier horses held proud poses, long thin heads and round muscular bodies. This original horse was carved in 1911. Illions $219.00

236 Sabre Muller's inspirations for his style horses included the Civil War Theme. He used primarily Arabians with much devotion to details. Sabre aptly named carrying a sabre for all to see. Sabre, circa 1910, with very real looking hardware is what sets Muller's creation apart from other carvers. Muller $161.00

275 Southern Belle Illions carved hundreds of horses for various companies. His earlier horses held proud poses, long thin heads and round muscular bodies. Southern Belle's mane and tail are golden. The gold and lavender colors are brilliant with the sparkling stones to make Southern Belle sparkle. This piece was originally carved in 1911. Illions $161.00

219 Small Unicorn Looff's style with armored horses was more of an elegant style, using coats of arms and elegant drapery, where his contemporaries used heavy looking metal. The legs on a Looff horse were slender and graceful. Looff $161.00

280 Rings This gray Prancer, a Dentzel design, is typical of his style. Precise movement and eloquent trappings secured with rings earns the name. The original piece was carved by Dentzel in 1920. Dentzel $161.00

214 Rabbit Another Dentzel jumper, made in 1908. This rare hare will give young and old a hopping good ride. This is one of many of Dentzel's menagerie pieces. Dentzel $134.00

121 Prince This very realistic horse was made at Carmel's shop near the stables of Prospect Park, NY, which contained a wide assortment of horses. Most likely "Prince" rode on one of the Coney Island Carousels. Carmel borrowed many decorative themes from other carvers, however, he was able to capture the essence of an animal in the expression, proportions and flow of the mane. 129 Petals Illion's creative talents and belief in traditional methods caused him to produce more ornate horses. However, he reserved for himself the carving of the faces and manes. Petals is highly decorated. Illions $161.00

120 Laughing Horse Laughing Horse is an Illions creation. This laughing stargazer is a perky ride for any adventurous child. Laughing Horse operated at Wyandot Park in Columbus, OH. This stylish stander was one of his earliest horses with the new company, circa 1909.  Illion's creative talents and belief in traditional methods caused him to produce more ornate horses. 1012 Freedom Horse, September 11, 2001 The Freedom Horse was carved in memory of the 911 attack on America.  The style of Freedom favors C. W. Parker's style.  Wild flowing manes, bucking and racing as was the west.  The symbolic gestures are the wildness of our freedoms, yet secure with the saddle and blanket.  PJ's       $169.00
