PJ's Carousel Collection started in 1979. The business grew rapidly as country collectibles became popular with the public. PJ's began with a simple hand-carved "Carousel Horse" called CH-1. Upon attending a trade show, PJ's presented 10 handpainted carousel horses and took orders for over 500 horses. This launched the miniature limited edition carousel horse business. As the the carousel horse business evolved, the horses were mounted on wooden poles and pine bases. The style evolved into brass poles and oak or walnut bases.

In 1982, the "Park" series was born. This product line became the Premier Carousel Edition. The value is that each of these horses or menagerie animals can actually be seen and ridden on an operating carousel somewhere in the United States or Canada. Each limited edition (1000-2500 series) is identified with a data plaque containing information regarding the carousel horse or menagerie animal.

PJ's became involved with the National Carousel Association (NCA) as the producer for all the NCA carousel horses. PJ's Carousel Collection makes and supplies hand-crafted and hand-painted carousel reproductions for theme parks, gift shops and to the public through it's internet ecommerce website.
